So What Now?!? His Ways are Higher!

How do you decide where to live? Who to date? Where to work? What all do you consider when contemplating daycare for children or future schools for college aged kids? When you’re hungry, what goes into your mind when it’s time to make a decision about the particular restaurant? Whether we choose to acknowledge it or not, we all have an unconscious bias in favor of or against something and it is across multiple areas of our lives. Usually this surfaces because of the way we were raised, conversations had at the dinner table, and of course things that we watched/heard on TV and/or social media. Everything we have ever learned is not true, yet we use that information to make decisions on a regular basis.

Our spiritual insight is just as biased. Because of this faulty belief that Christianity is not supposed to be difficult, we often neglect certain opportunities or discount circumstances because they don’t align with what we think God would have us to do. Our eyes often times mislead us. To think that God would have me accept a lower paying job doesn’t make sense. To think that a family member would die from cancer, just isn’t fair. And to think that your child was born with special needs couldn’t possibly be God. It's just not right. He wouldn’t do this, would He?

I’m thinking back to 2016. I was just promoted and became an HR Business Partner for one of our divisions. The year was challenging, yet I learned a lot. Come to find out, my position was never replaced and the Talent Acquisition team could use another Recruiter to help fill positions. I was approached and immediately thought, “No way! I don’t want to go backwards.” (at least that’s what I thought) Truth be told, it was one of the best decisions in life that I’ve made to date. It wasn’t a step back, but it was an opportunity to help my colleagues, as well as discover a new passion and purpose I had for my life. Stepping back allowed me the opportunity to push myself into a new role. Today, you are looking at the global leader for diversity & inclusion. That doesn’t happen, if I didn’t step back into a role I was eager to get out of. #TGBTG

Why do we have to have negative encounters in life? Let me go ahead and put out this disclaimer. I do not have all the answers. Here’s what I do know. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts” (Is. 55:8-9). What you see today, the situation you may encounter tomorrow, and the bad news you will get next week are not the end. Believe it or not, there is a higher purpose/plan than what you can currently see. Don’t be fooled by what you see in front of you. I dare you to trust God and believe Him for the man you know Him to be. Whatever He has spoken about you, will come to pass, regardless of how life may look right now. “So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (Is. 55:11). #ItShallCameToPass God will uphold His end of the bargain. It’s up to us, to uphold ours. At the end of the day, no matter what, we were created to worship Him. We will speak well of Him regardless of the current situation. We serve an awesome, mighty and faithful God! Wherever you are, there He is in the midst! #Selah

So What Now?!? Stay in the Ring!

At the end of the day, life is all about endurance. I mean think about it. Survival of the fittest usually boils down to the last man/woman standing. The one that said, “regardless of what I’m faced w
