So What Now?!? Lord, Help My Unbelief!

Full transparency, I’m not even sure I know where to start. This is horrible, and I honestly don’t even feel the need to blog today. But I guess in full disclosure, this is life and we ALL have moments like this. No sense in hiding behind the truth. My heart is heavy this week, and I can’t shake it. Last weekend, my family and I were very intentional about spending time with God, seeking His face, and soaking in His presence. There were BIG prayers that were sent up and we needed God to come through like never before. Our plan was that on Monday all would be well, and life would be back to normal. Wheww…let me tell you. We are no where close to normal. At least it doesn’t feel like it. I found myself immediately knocked back down, having a melt down and quiet for pretty much the rest of the week. The prayer from where we sat was NOT answered. Of course we will continue to believe that God will work this thing out, but I would be lying if I said we all walked away, “rejoicing.” If anything, it was the complete opposite and a MAJOR setback from our perspective.

Ever been there? Ever had to cry out, “Why Lord?” Or yell, “What in the world is going on up there? Are you serious right now?” “Like dude, give me a break. Dang!” Those moments have surfaced as a quick thought of, “God can You do this? Have we finally tapped into something that’s bigger than You?” Of course not! But one can’t help to think it, especially when the time delays seems forever, and He seems to be #Unbothered. Looking back at it now, I know that brief moment of doubt and disbelief only frustrated God and displeased Him. I was quickly reminded of Mark 9:21-23, “And [Jesus] asked his father, How long has he had this? And he answered, From the time he was a little boy. And it has often thrown him into fire and into water, intending to kill him. But if you can do anything, do have pity on us and help us. And Jesus said, [You say to Me], If You can do anything? [Why], all things can be (are possible) to him who believes!” I don’t know who else needs the reminder, and I’ll just go out on a limb and say Ricaye Harris. LOL! But we have to realize that we insult God when we approach Him with a situation and then second-guess His ability to handle it. If we trust Him, we have release it to Him and then let it go for Him to handle how He sees fit, knowing that it’s ultimately for the best. “Faith is not the belief that God will do what you want, but it is the belief that God will do what is right” (Author Unknown).

Some days we just need the reminder and boost to get our unbelief in check. Let me pause right now and ask for forgiveness. “God, I’m sorry for getting overwhelmed and frustrated with the current situations of life. Forgive me doubting Your ability and second guessing who You are. I know that You are yet able and that You can. I take the limits off. Move and deliver like only You can.” #iBelieve

I’m not going to act like I have this all figured out, but here’s what I know. This isn’t the first time I’ve felt this way, and it definitely will not be the last. Let me remind us all of a few things to help make this struggle a little easier to process. Remember these four things: 1) God CARES for you. I don’t know how else to make you believe that. I know the pillow is wet with tears but dry your eyes. He has NOT forgotten about you. “Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully” (1 Pet. 5:7). The Brotha is watching, ok? He SEES you. Know that! 2) God’s people are CHEERING you on. There are others who have been in your same shoes and stumbled along the way, but they made it and are applauding your efforts and encouraging you not to give up. “Therefore then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth]” (Heb. 12:1b). 3) CHERISH the God moments. Even in the most adverse situations it’s hard to see the hand of God, but know that it’s been there the entire time. You have moments you can celebrate. Despite your frustrations, don’t lose sight of the fact that God has blessed and continues to bless your life. He may not have stepped in right now, but He will continue to work on your behalf and bless this situation. 4) You and I have to stay COMMITTED! This does not mean that you have to feel like it every day. But dag gone, before you throw in the towel for good remind yourself of your commitment to Christ. “Commitment is doing the thing you said you were going to do, long after the mood you said it in has left you!” The energetic, enthusiastic drive may have vanished and the drive to push may be nonexistent. Can you still push in spite of that? #HeCares #They Cheer #YouCherish #WeCommit #KeepYourHeadUp #AfterThis
