Growing up, Math was my favorite subject. You could kind of call me an undercover nerd. I was cool, but definitely did all my homework (while in front of the television) and enjoyed learning Math…until…UGH! I don’t know about you all, but I couldn’t stand Proofs. My Lordt! Why would anyone want to torture us like that?!? Having to explain and prove why this math equation is what it is and how you solved the problem was just super complicated. And THEN it changed my entire perspective on life. Shamelessly, I started viewing everything as a Math problem and wanting to prove everything, missing out on the entire premise behind Christianity, which is FAITH! Guess what?! Sometimes we are going to have to be okay not knowing. I don’t know how this situation is going to turn out, but I KNOW that You are in control. I’m not sure when things are going to turn around, but I KNOW that You do all things well. I can’t even imagine why I’m even in this situation, but I KNOW that You know best. We have to be okay with that fact that everything won’t add up. It just won’t make sense. But that’s the beauty of faith. Do we trust Him? Do you really believe that there is nothing too hard for God?
A very familiar passage of scripture comes to mind. My analytical brain kicks in almost immediately. How in the world did God feed THOUSANDS with two fish and five loaves of bread?!?! Explain that to me. That won’t even be enough for your family Christmas Dinner. Lol! Everybody comes rolling through on Christmas! But thousands, without counting women and children, were fed with two fish and five loaves. Even as I sit here today, the Math is off. Lol! Like, 5+2 = 7. Definitely does NOT equal 5000+?!?! Look at Matthew14:15-18. “When evening came, the disciples came to Him and said, This is a remote and barren place, and the day is now over; send the throngs away into the villages to buy food for themselves. Jesus said, They do not need to go away; you give them something to eat. They said to Him, We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish. He said, Bring them here to Me.”
You can hear the despondency in their voice. We only have…. Blah blah blah, right? Here’s where we mess up and start down the path of disbelief. Let this passage minister to you. It is blessing me even right now. What stops us from letting God be bigger than the situation? 1) We go away from the Source. As soon as we are confronted with bad news, where do we go? Who do we call? How do we respond? Is your first inclination to reach out and speak to God? Or do we instantly find ourselves in distress and despair, ultimately losing sleep over how WE are going to fix the problem. 2) We don’t tap into the Strength He has given us. He tried to empower the disciples that THEY should give them something to eat. They didn’t even realize that He SAID GIVE!! If He told you to give, do, sow, etc. please know that He’s graced you with the strength, ability and knowledge to accomplish the task at hand. 3) We don’t trust Him to actually Solve the problem! He allows us to go and do, but He is the Sovereign Creator of the Universe, working behind the scene to ensure His master plan is carried out to perfection. You and I just need to be willing vessels, used by God to bring Him glory. When He Solves, He Blesses! Don’t miss out on the blessing because you simply refuse to allow God to be God because of disbelief. #iBelieve
Mediate on this verse. “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me” (Jer. 32:27)? How do you answer? What’s impossible for God?
Short answer… NOTHING!!! Go to the Source! Operate in His Strength. Let Him Solve it!
