So What Now?!? Yes, I Can!

The movie, Major Payne, is one of my all-time favorite comedies. If you ever need a good laugh, go check it out. I’m remembering Major Payne tell the story of “The Little Engine That Could” to Tiger. “No matter what, he just kept chugging along. Chugga chugga, chugga chugga, choo choo.” Lol! Then it kind of went downhill from there. When you THINK you can, you WILL. And if you DON’T, well…. you WON’T!
If I ever decide to explore other career opportunities, I believe I would have to become a Life Coach. As look around my circle of friends, I seem to operate in that capacity already. I live for moments when I help people accomplish their goals/dreams. Make no mistake about it. If you aren’t ready for tough love, do NOT contact me. Haha! We will go hard, and you will want to fight me most days, but you’ll soon discover that it was all worth it. Here’s the thing though. Call me shallow, but I only work with or coach those that have their mind made up about a specific thing. Don’t call my cell phone talking about you want to lose 30 lbs. and you start a new diet every week!?! Don’t text me talking about you are ready for a new job and your resume has not been updated since 2005!?!? I mean, I’m no miracle worker. Lol! But if you are really serious and your mind is made up, then we can talk. Once we set our mind to do something, we are usually successful at seeing it through. Remember this, “I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency” (Phil 4:13).
So how do you convince yourself that you can do it? How do you remove the fog and dismiss the doubt that will try and creep in? I would be lying if I said this was an easy task. Every time we attempt to commit to something (especially if it’s new), we have 10 reasons/excuses/distractions as to why we can’t or shouldn’t. Next time you are confronted with those questions or become doubtful think on this: 1) Trust that God knows best! We will never understand it all, but we can trust that He will never leave us nor forsake us. “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding” (Prov. 3:5). 2) Think on those things that are positive and of a good report. Stay away from those people who try and discourage you. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Phil. 4:8). 3) Track your progress! I can promise you that no matter where you find yourself today you are definitely not where you were yesterday. It’s amazing what you’ll discover when you write stuff down. “And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by.” (Hab. 2:2) Wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and encourage yourself. #YesICan #HeDidNotBringMeThisFarToLeaveMe
